In the main hall of the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station on the West and East walls are fabulous mosaic or painted tiles mural that depict the history, life and culture of Singapore and Malaysia of bygone times. These three images displayed in three panels each is located on the West Wall of the Main Hall. Each set of these images are large (estimated 20ft by 20ft for each three panels).

The Tanjong Pagar Railway Station in Singapore is on its last days being the terminal station for the Malaysian Railway. On the 1st of July, the station, railway land from the south of Singapore all the way up to the northern end will revert to Singapore land (purchased at a cost – for more information about the history and how the land was returned – check out this link – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanjong_Pagar_railway_station

At the entrance of the station stands these four statues on four separate columns. The image above is an enhanced capture of the four statues combined into one image to capture the intricate detail and craft of Rudolfo Nolli, the sculptor. With the end of the railway service, not much is known what will become of the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. Its architecture reflect a historical period of time gone by and many hope to see it continue to be a place where the public will have access.

The Parkview Square building in downtown Singapore has often been called the Batman building due to its perceived Gothic styling. However, for enthusiasts of architecture, its Art Deco (bordering on Gothic). For some basic information on this building, check out this Wiki post.

It stands out being the only tall building in the block of land it sits on. There are four (two storey tall) statues at the top of each of the north and south face of the building and neither face has any buildings to obscure the lookout of each four statues. A quick Google search on the images of the building shows there was no published image of the handsome and imposing statues which gave rise to my desire to try to capture what previously was not done before. To capture and publish a close up of the statues.  The statues to me on reviewing the images I made, reminded me of the Egyptian statues from old movie sets such as Cleopatra.

Singapore has grown in international stature as a food haven. Many unique restaurants are courageously springing up all over the island and not long ago, about 20 friends met at the Xi Yan Restaurant. All of the dishes served that evening was outstanding but this dish deserved special mention. Food photography is the art of capturing the sensation of taste through the eyes. I wonder if you can taste the texture?

New York City has street fairs every weekend in different parts of the city and at one weekend, it was right in the heart of the city – roads were blocked off from traffic for about 5 blocks. As a matter of city planning, a fire engine, police cars and ambulance will always be parked nearby. By today’s standards, these ageing chariots of heroes are still very much part of the city’s identity like the yellow taxis. While these vehicles may have seen better years, they are full of character and represents the depth of history of the city.

I am very fortunate to have a wife who is a wonderful cook and when she her creative juices come out she is able to whip up the best cakes and gourmet dishes – ever. Here is something she made just a day ago which just had to be photographed.
