Roots of fallen tree in the Mariposa Forest
This is a photo of the roots of huge fallen tree in Mariposa Forest. This is just a mere quarter of the underside that stood over 10 feet high.
Mariposa Forest
The Mariposa Forest is located just a few miles south of Yosemite Valley, California. A forest with very old trees with a mix of different species. Periodically the trees will go through a renewal process through forest fires which the forestry authorities will allow so as to keep the forest alive. An odd concept at first but without the fires much of the trees will not have the nutrients needed to keep growing – or for the forest to replenish itself.
See this GOOGLE MAP LINK to locate the forest.
